Salisbury Business Disclosure Ordinance Passes

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Monday the Salisbury City Council passed a controversial "business disclosure ordinance".  Despite opposition from The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, which expressed concern this new legislation could turn new businesses away from setting up shop in Salisbury.

The ordinance will require businesses entering into a contract with the City of Salisbury to disclose the social security number and date of birth for anyone involved with that company.

The same information is required for businesses filing appeals with or seeking relief or approval from the City of Salisbury.

The council voted 3-2 in favor of this law.  The ordinance goes into effect in 30 days.
