MARYLAND - The Sheddy Bennett Act is one step closer to becoming law in Maryland.
Christine Sheddy and Whitney Bennett were brutally murdered in Maryland. Their killers had help hiding the bodies, but the accomplices only got five years behind bars.
The mothers of both victims have been pushing for this bill, which would increase the maximum penalty, for those acting as an accessory after the fact to murder in the first and second degree.
The Senate and the House passed the bill. There will be a sponsor only hearing on April 2nd. It's expected to head to the governor's desk soon after.
