MARYLAND - Some somber news to report a dear friend of ours here at WMDT, and a community leader has passed away.
Mitch Scott, Owner of Great Scott Broadcasting, had been fighting leukemia since the beginning of this year. Steve Pappas, owner of the Original Green Turtle in Ocean City, says they've been friends for 25 years. He shared with WMDT, his most fond memory of Mitch.
"He goes out and buys iPods, he buys cell phones and he buys DVD players for all these kids. He bought 75 expensive items so he could be Santa and the kids loved it," said Pappas.
Scott's family plans to hold a remembrance ceremony at the Fountains in Salisbury this Saturday at 11:30 in the morning. Then Sunday, they will celebrate his life at the Original Green Turtle in Ocean City from 1to 4 p.m.
Donations can be sent in his memory and will benefit the American Cancer Society.
