The incident took place a little after 1AM on Sunday. Delaware State Police say 25-year-old Joseph Watkins almost struck a patrol car head on while traveling on the wrong side of Route 1. When officers tried to pull the suspect over a chase ensued. The pursuit continued through numerous county roads before traveling though the town of Lincoln and eventually southbound on South Old State Road

Watkins ultimately crashed his vehicle into some trees. He was taken to Kent General Hospital where his current condition is unknown. The case is still under investigation, however alcohol is believed to be a factor. Charges are pending.
