Simmons and Fletcher is pleased to announce that Keith M. Fletcher, of Simmons and Fletcher, will be one of two key panelists speaking and answering questions pertaining to representing on the job injury victims during Strafford Legal Webinar’s legal webinar entitled: Personal Injury Claims for Work-Related Injuries: Beyond Workers’ Comp. The webinar provides 1.5 hours of continuing legal education credits to attorneys in participating states and is to take place on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST. This CLE webinar will provide a guide to personal injury practitioners for evaluating and proving claims for work-related injuries against third parties and employers who have opted out of workers' compensation insurance.

Workers’ compensation laws make it impossible to bring claims in many states against large employers. However, in certain States such as Texas and New Jersey, employers may “opt out” of the worker’s compensation system. Also, many states do not require workers’ compensation be purchased by small companies who employ less than 4-6 employees. This webinar will address issues faced by work injury lawyers when bringing claims against the employers in those situations where there is no workers’ compensation coverage.

In addition to the above, this seminar will cover making claims against negligent third-parties who are not covered by the prohibition against suit. These third-party claims may involve simple negligent motorists, products manufacturers or contractors. This seminar will address how to identify potential third-party defendants and how to avoid potential pitfalls such as borrowed servants.

Joining Keith M. Fletcher will be Al Baker of Solberg, Stewart, Miller of Fargo, North Dakota. The panel will provide personal injury practitioners with strategies for identifying possible claims arising out of work-related accidents, conducting investigation and discovery, proving liability, and seeking damages for injured clients.

Keith M. Fletcher is a Houston personal injury attorney who is a Co-Founder of his firm. His practice includes many personal injury areas, including non-subscriber on-the-job injury claims, workers’ compensation third-party claims, vehicular accidents, products liability and industrial accidents.
