UPDATE: Wednesday Night Fire Reported In Accomack County

Posted: Updated:

ACCOMACK CO., VA. - An abandon structure caught fire overnight in Accomack County. This time on the 22,000 block of Bayside Road.

Virginia State Police say arson is suspected but, right now, the blaze has not been linked to the string of 66 arsons that have ravaged Accomack County.

According to Accomack County Emergency Dispatch multiple fire crews were on the scene.

WMDT was on the scene of the fire and reports say the building is mostly destroyed. Investigators say no injuries have been reported.

WMDT spoke to one resident, Storm Brady, who says "I couldn't believe that it was right here so close to home because we heard about all on the Shore and everything. You know it's one thing an abandoned building, worrying if someone's ever going to get hurt. But it didn't occur to me, right down the street, walking distance that the guy was here."

Residents who live nearby say the building is the Old Mallard's Restaurant. They say the restaurant was abandoned.

The Virginia State Police continue to urge the public to come forward with any information that can assist in solving the arsons on the Eastern Shore. Officials say there continues to be a $25,000.00 reward offered to any information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
