UPDATE: Suspect Charged In Lewes Officer Involved Shooting

Posted: Updated:

LEWES, Del. - We're finally learning more details about that officer-involved shooting in Lewes, that left an alleged serial burglar in critical condition. On February 18th and 19th, in a twenty-four hour period, investigators say 42-year-old Keith Schueller, went on a stealing rampage.

He reportedly took cash from a bank, shoes from Famous Footwear and lottery tickets from three other stores. Officers caught up with him, but say he led them on a chase in the car, then on foot.

However, police say when Schueller tried to hit the officer with a shovel, the trooper shot him in the upper body. Schuller has since recovered, and is now behind bars at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $53,003 bond.
