SALISBURY, Md. - Florence Lucy Hales Vance, 89, formally of 431 Lincoln Ave. Salisbury, MD went home to be with her Lord Friday March 8, 2013 at Ephrata Manor in Ephrata , Pa. following a brief illness in January. Florence was born in Salisbury, MD but grew up on her family's farm in St. Luke's, Maryland . She was the daughter of the late Arthur England Hales and Elma Hurd Barnhart Hales. She was the wife of George Robert Vance who preceded her in death in 1996. She was the beloved mother of her only child Robert Carroll Vance, wife Beatrice of Narvon, Pa, devoted and adored grandmother and great grandmother of Jeffrey L. Vance, wife Karen; children Thomas Henry and Ingrid Lee of Pasadena, Maryland and Roberta Carroll Vance Kreider, husband Nathan; children Ian Robert Kreider and Donovan Cole Kreider of Narvon, Pa. and one other grandson Lane Vance, wife Erin ,children Zander and Ryder of San Diego, Ca.. She also is survived by a niece, Madeline Merritt of Crownsville Md. and nephew, Charles Adams of Hebron , Md.

Florence was a homemaker during Robert's childhood and then worked for the A&P for 18 years. She loved her family, doted on her grandchildren and great grand children, and enjoyed her flowers, the beach, crabbing. She lived in her home on Lincoln Ave until August of 2006 when she moved near her son and his family in Narvon , Pennsylvania . She grew up in Bethlehem Church in Saint Luke's but she did not come to the Lord until October of 2012. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Rodger Hales, Annie Hales Bright, Dorothy Hales Keyes.

A viewing will be held on Thursday March 14, 2013 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home. A private family interment will follow.  Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.
