Vernon Powell CEO Wins Retailer Of The Year

SALISBURY, Md. - The CEO of a local store has received a huge national honor.

J. Phil Wright, CEO of Vernon Powell Shoe Company, has been named Retailer of the Year at the 2012 Annual Meeting for the National Shoe Retailers Association, which is a non-profit organization, that represents 2,000 independent shoe storeowners throughout the US and Canada.

Wright is a third generation independent shoe retailer, and his son operates 12 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Vernon Powell Shoes, which also sells apparel and accessories, has been in business for more than 76 years.
