DOVER, Del. - Beer lovers may soon be able to bring their "growlers" to liquor stores.
Rep. Debra Heffernan (D, Dist. 6) introduced a bill that would allow liquor stores in Delaware to sell growlers of draft beer.
Growlers are glass or ceramic containers which hold half a gallon of beer and currently can only be purchased at breweries and brewpubs in Delaware.
But one local brewery wants to see more before deciding on the law.
"Once the product leaves our facility, we kind of lose that control," said Lori Clough, 3rd Wave Brewing Co. "Are we guaranteed that someone in the liquor store is going to clean their lines regularly? Are they going to clean the growlers before they fill?"
The House Economic Development, Banking, Insurance and Commerce Committee has been assigned to review the bill.
