Sussex County Warns Of Flooding

Posted: Updated:

SUSSEX CO., Del. - Sussex County emergency officials expect some heavy flooding along the coastal bays.  Route 1, the Indian River Inlet Bridge, and Prime Hook Road have all been closed due to standing water on the roads.

WMDT spoke with Joe Thomas of the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center to find out what residents should be on the look out for.

"If you live in an area that's prone to flooding and have experienced flooding in the past, we're recommending you seek higher ground," says Thomas.

No official evacuation order has been issued in Sussex County, but with high tide coming up at 4:30 AM, Thursday morning, officials are asking residents who live in flood prone areas to consider getting out before things get bad.
