SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - A winter storm is causing power outages, flooding and road closures on the Eastern Shore.
Delmarva Power reported thousands of outages in the state Wednesday afternoon, although those totals were down significantly by 5 p.m. High winds also prompted the closure of the Bay Bridge.
In Berlin, Maryland State Police said a downed tree blocked the eastbound lanes of Route 50 near the Fort Whaley campground. Flooding was reported in low-lying areas in Crisfield, and in Cambridge, the storm pushed waves over the bulkhead at the Cambridge Marina.
Ocean City emergency management director Joseph Theobald says there have been high winds and standing water in the resort town, but the storm hasn't been any worse than what was forecast and no major flooding is expected.
