High Winds Lead To Outages In DE, MD Shore

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - High winds from a winter storm blowing through the mid-Atlantic region knocked down trees and power lines in Delaware and eastern Maryland, causing power outages to thousands of utility customers.

The Delaware Electric Cooperative, which serves mainly rural areas in central and southern Delaware, reported about 4,900 customers without power early Wednesday evening.

Delmarva Power reported about 2,500 customers in Delaware without power, including about 2,100 in southern Sussex County.

Delmarva Power also reported several outages on Maryland's Eastern Shore, including about 1,900 customers in Worcester County and about 500 in Queen Anne's County.
