Storm Causes Power Outages Around Delmarva

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. -- With all the wild weather we've been seeing some residents are left in the dark. Delmarva power tells us that right now 800 customers in Maryland are in the dark, and 36 in Delaware. Officials say they have crews standing by, ready to tackle any problems.

And Wednesday, they've been busy.

"We've had some problems in Ocean City, the wind whipped up a wire onto a cross arm, and caused the cross arm to catch on fire. The pole caught on fire, that caused an outage for about 1000 customers," Matt Likovich of Delmarva Power tells us.

"If the rain continues flooding could be an issue in terms of our underground infrastructure in the coastal areas," he adds.

Delmarva Power reminds residents to report any outages to their customer service line, 911.

That number is 1-800-898-8045.

Also if you see any downed power lines, stay away and let the professionals take care of it.
