DEWEY BEACH, Del. - Dewey Beach town officials are considering a new tax to help bring in more money, but local businesses may be fighting back.
The maximum tax would be three percent on businesses such as bars and restaurants. Dewey is reportedly facing a deficit of about $300,000. We reached out to Alex Pires, who reportedly filed a lawsuit against the town last month.
He had no comment.
If officials pursue the plan, a public referendum would be held in September.
