FRUITLAND, Md. - Students throughout the country took part in the "Read Across America" event today.
The annual "National Education Association" event falls on the closest day to March 2nd, the birthday of famed children's author Doctor Seuss. Right here on the shore students, at Fruitland Intermediate got in the spirit by festively dressing up as their favorite characters.
WMDT asked a few students what their favorite Doctor Seuss books are. 4th grader Kaitlin Cashman said "1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish." Justin Brown, also a 4th grader, said "my favorite Dr. Suess book is "If I Ran A Circus"."
Organizers remind "you're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child." We have more information on the Read Across America initiative on 47-weblinks.
