SALISBURY, Md. - Mardi Gras* might be over, but for Women Supporting Women, the party is just getting started! Mardi "Bra" is their latest venture to raise money for breast cancer research and support.
On the last Tuesday of every month, the group is hosting a celebrity bartender event at Mojos in Salisbury. The mixologists admit they aren't professionals, and, they might not even be very good, but they're out there. It's not just pouring drinks, it's a labor of love.
"I have been touched by it. My wife in 2010 was diagnosed with the
brca1 gene. She did not have cancer, but her body DNA would have guaranteed she'd have cancer," says Carlos Mir Director of Fund Development for Women Supporting Women. The organization's support and guidance, helped Mir and his wife get through difficult times.
This is just one of the many fundraisers Women Supporting Women hold each year, and they're using the bartending events to get people interested in joining their Seagull Century team.
