SNOW HILL, Md. -- Some students in Worcester County got knee deep in politics, taking on the role of County Commissioners' Tuesday. As part of Students in Government Day, seven high school seniors, two from each county high school, posed as County Commissioners. During the mock session, the students were able to review and act on different issues important to the county.
It was a learning experience these students will never forget.
"It helps to bring it to life so that we understand what us going on and for things to be taken in our own hands so we're representing the community," Pocomoke High School senior, Brittany Stevens tells us.
"it weighs your opinions a little bit more than you thought. You have one being in politics where it matters for governing other people, and a county of people," Stephen Decatur High School senior, Richard Neville adds.
All students were chosen to represent their schools. The goal of the day is to encourage students to become active members of their governments.
