Local High School Students To Compete In Robotics Event

Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO CO., Md - Students from Wicomico County high schools have done something pretty remarkable - they've built a life-sized robot for a competition in Baltimore. But they need help getting there.

They're hosting a fundraiser Friday and Saturday at the UNOs in Fruitland.  When using a special coupon, 20 percent of your meal will go toward the robotics team.

In Baltimore, they'll compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition - short for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology." It's a national competition with thousands of teams competing across the country.

The robot is build to shoot discs across large playing field, against other robots, all controlled remotely by the students. You can view the official FIRST game animation here: http://bit.ly/VYILAt

Regional winners will advance to the national finals in St. Louis this April.

You can print the UNO's fundraiser coupon from the team's Website here:  http://www.team3389.info/
