POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Maurice Stratton Long, 93 of Pocomoke City, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke. Born September 28, 1919 in Rehobeth, MD, he was a son of the late Harry Long and the late Annie Powell Long. He was the husband of the late Virginia Parsons Long. Mr. Long's father died when he was very young and he took over the family farm when he was only 12 years old. He was a graduate of Marion School. He was a member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Pocomoke Elks Lodge, #1624 and was an area representative for Pioneer Seeds for over 25 years.
He is survived by one son, James M. Long (Joy), one daughter, Brenda A. Young (Ed) , all of Pocomoke City, seven grandchildren, Ethan, Parker and Madison Long; Weston, Evan and Dane Young, and Damon Barber; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary Bunting and Ruth Trader.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, 5757 Coventry Parish Road, Westover, MD. The family will greet relatives and friends at a reception immediately following the service in the church hall. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in his memory by the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, 5757 Coventry Parish Road, Westover, MD 21871.
