WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. - In Wednesday's Meet The Money Givers, WMDT introduced an organization looking for creative talent. If you can sing, dance, or even sculpt and you live in Worcester County, this scholarship is for you.
"I was blown away by the talent, the children are just so talented," said Sharon Sorrentino, Scholarship Committee Member.
The Worcester County Arts Council knows a thing or two about artistic ability. Not only is it their field of expertise, but they also see hundreds of talented applicants, vying to be awarded with one of their eight scholarships.
"We have students applying representing the artistic form of art such as visual arts, performing arts, creative writing, poetry, and music," said Anna Mullis, Executive Director of the Worcester County Arts Council.
"Katherina Burton who is a fantastic singer, I know personally, and is now attending Towson University," said Sorrentino.
She was one of the Worcester County students to qualify for the money last year. Each of the 8 students chosen this year, get a $1,000 check towards a bachelor of arts degree.
"If they don't receive it for some reason when they graduate high school, if they go into college and they're pursuing the arts they may apply in college as long as they're in undergrad," said Sorrentino.
The deadline for this scholarship is March 15th, so try and get your applications in now. For more information on the program, head to our homepage and click on the DEF Logo.
