ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Americans for Prosperity Foundation-Maryland plan to release the results of a new study that examines the effects of a gas tax on the state's middle class.
Baltimore-based SAGE Policy Group was commissioned by the foundation to conduct the study.
Officials say that economist Anirban Basu will join the foundation's director, Dave Schwartz, to share the study's results.
Last year, Gov. Martin O'Malley proposed phasing in a 6 percent sales tax on gasoline at 2 percent a year for three years, but the proposal floundered amid high gas prices.
Other gas tax increases have been proposed by Maryland lawmakers in recent weeks.
The event will be held Wednesday in the House of Delegates building.
