UPDATE: New Details In Officer Involved Shooting In Lewes

LEWES, Del. - Delaware State Police are investigating a trooper involved shooting in Lewes, Delaware.

We're told the incident happened in the back yard of a home on Cedar Grove Road, when a 42-year-old male suspect was shot by a Delaware State Trooper. The suspect was reportedly taken away by ambulance to Beebe Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. No word yet on whether or not the trooper sustained any injuries during the incident.

Roadways in the area, including the intersection of Plantation Road and Robinsville Road have been blocked off while authorities investigate. We will bring more information as it becomes available, stay tuned to WMDT and wmdt.com for the very latest.
