Posted: Updated:

NEW CHURCH, Va. - Details are unfolding in the Tuesday morning bus crash that sent several students to the hospital.

WMDT spoke with Sgt. Anaya of Virginia State Police who tells us the bus hit a pole and ran into a ditch around 7:30 AM in the area of Sign Post and Kelly Road. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

School officials say that when they got word of the incident, principals and staff from several northern schools, along with central office staff went to the scene as part of their "emergency crisis plan."

We're told that although multiple students were taken to the hospital, only one had injuries and they were non-life threatening.

The accident is under investigation. Stay tuned to WMDT and wmdt.com for the very latest.
