Couple Charged With Growing Marijuana In Newark

Posted: Updated:

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - A man and a woman have been charged with growing marijuana inside their Newark home.

New Castle County police say they executed a search warrant Friday at the home of 34-year-old Jerry Carletti and 28-year-old Abbie Deardorff after getting tips about drug activity there.

Police say they found a marijuana grow operation in the basement of the home along with packaged marijuana, a .22-caliber rifle and about $3,000 in cash. Police say they seized more than 2 ½ pounds of the drug.

In addition to drug and conspiracy charges, Carletti and Deardorff have been charged with endangering the welfare of their 1-year-old child. They've been released on bond.
