Attorney: Sandi Jackson Signs Plea Deal With Feds

Posted: Updated:

CHICAGO (AP) - An attorney for former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s wife says she has signed plea agreement with federal prosecutors related to accusations her husband misused campaign funds.

Attorney Tom Kirsch tells The Associated Press that former Chicago alderman Sandi Jackson has pleaded guilty to one count of tax fraud.

Jesse Jackson Jr. was charged Friday with conspiring to spend campaign funds on personal expenses. Sandi Jackson was charged with filing false joint tax returns.

The charge against Sandi Jackson carries a maximum of 3-year prison sentence. But Kirsch says the agreement "does not contemplate a sentence of that length."
