SALISBURY, Md. - The Local Carpenters Union hit the pavement again Friday in Salisbury.
This time, they're protesting against the newly built CVS near Salisbury University. Back in September, the group was feuding with the new Coach store in West Ocean City. Officials say CVS is using substandard wages, and hiring workers from outside the state, when they have plenty of local contractors looking for work right here on the shore.
"We're trying to make a living and when they bring people from other states, taxes aren't paid into this state. You don't have schools, you don't have highways, infrastructure, and stuff like that because taxes are taken into other towns," said Mark Wagner, with the Local Carpenters Union 2012.
Officials say they're goal is to get these companies to stop using unfair practices, and to start hiring within the local area to support the local economy.
