Posted: Updated:

HENRICO, Va. (AP) - Henrico County police have charged an adult relative of a boy who brandished a loaded handgun on a school bus.

Police tell media outlets that 78-year-old Harvey L. Pleasant is charged with allowing children access to a firearm. The misdemeanor charge carries a maximum fine of $500.

Police didn't specify Pleasant's relationship to the boy or say how the child got the gun.

Police say the 7-year-old Ratcliffe Elementary School student brandished the gun on Feb. 4 and made a threatening statement. No one was injured.
