NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man is dead after being struck by a car while crossing a road in Newark.

Troopers say the man was hit by a car at 6 p.m. Monday while crossing State Route 2. Troopers identified the pedestrian as 49-year-old Timothy Coston of Wilmington.

Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. John Day says the man was wearing dark clothing and not in a well-lit area. Day says charges are not expected against the driver of the vehicle, who was not injured in the crash. A female passenger in the car was also not injured.
