CRISFIELD, Md. - They're there in case of an emergency: protecting our streets, putting out our fires and curing our illnesses. Well now, the Crisfield Chamber of Commerce is lending a helping hand to all future officers, firefighters, and nurses.

"We look for kids that are doing a lot of community service and are going into jobs or professions that promote community service," said Susan Heath, Secretary of the Crisfield Chamber.

There are two $500 scholarships, for any student going to a university, community college or technical school. It's all in honor of former chamber member, David Price.

"David was 100 percent a Crisfielder and wanted to help the community in any way and he passed away suddenly, three years ago," said Heath.

Officials say David was instrumental in organizing events like the Crab and Clam Bake and the Christmas Parade. That is also how they make their money to send kids off to college to pursue their dreams.

The deadline for this scholarship is May 1st. For more information on the program, head to our homepage and click on the DEF Logo.
