VSP Speaks On Accomack Arson Investigation

Posted: Updated:

ACCOMACK CO., Va. - Virginia State Police are still looking for the suspects responsible for the 44 Accomack arsons.

Officials say they have evidence to believe more than one person is involved in the crimes; however, after a nearly three month long investigation, officials say that it won't be solved overnight.

When a fire is started, we have to wait for the fire department to put the fire out," said Sgt. Michelle Anaya. "Then, after making the scene safe, that pretty much washes out a lot of the evidence. A lot of the evidence is trampled upon, so it's a very difficult type of crime to go in and solve."

Police are still offering a $5,000 reward for any information that could lead to an arrest.
