SALISBURY, Md. - The Food Lion on Tilghman Road held their annual Family Math Night, letting kids and their parents shop the store and learn how to apply what they learned in the classroom, in the grocery store.
This is East Salisbury Elementary's first time hosting the event and students and teachers saw it as an opportunity to learn with friends.
"We're going to have lots of activities and play with our friends in the activities, said fourth grader Aubri Hill.
"It's awesome, because the parents you can see that they really care about the kids and making learning related to the real world," said Tammy Adams, a fourth grade teacher at East Salisbury Elementary.
Adam Fountain a student says he is "going to use my new calculator to make sure [my parents] don't over calculate."
As a take-away from the event, students were able to keep those new calculators.
