Man Driving Truck In Del. Killed In Crash

Posted: Updated:

ELLENDALE, Del. - Delaware State Police say a truck driver was killed when his rig left the road in Ellendale and hit several trees and a utility pole.

It happened about 1 p.m. Thursday on Beach Highway. Troopers say 37-year-old Kenneth W. Johnson of Bridgeville was operating a rollback truck towing a 30-yard trailer containing scrap metal.

Police say the vehicle failed to negotiate a left turn, left the road, hit trees and a utility pole. Authorities say the trailer struck the passenger compartment of the truck.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
