GOOD MORNING DELMARVA - On Friday, February 8th come to Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary for an adoption "preview" event from noon-7 p.m. and the Bring Your Sweetheart Home Today adoption gala, noon-6 p.m., Saturday, February 9th.
Adoption fees will be replaced by requests for donations. Adopters need to show a valid driver's license and TWO current utility bills.
Safe Haven is totally committed to the No-Kill ethic for all cats and dogs in Delaware.
Mission
- Operate a No-Kill sanctuary as a safety net for Sussex County dogs and cats
- Follow the model of Best Friends, the No Kill shelter in Utah that has demonstrated the feasibility of the No Kill ethic for three decades
- Help people retain their pets if at all possible and in the best interests of the animals
- Give loving care to 400 cats and dogs at a time with well-trained staff and volunteers
- Ensure excellent in-house veterinary care that seeks to save animals, in accordance with the the Golden Rule
- Find good homes for dogs and cats, making matches based on our understanding of our animals' personalities
- Offer low and no-cost spay and neuter services for pets of people with limited income, particularly Pit Bulls
- Trap-Neuter and Return community cats - stray, feral and barn cats
- Make the best use of donations by operating efficiently and effectively
- Work towards making Sussex County a No-Kill community and Delaware a No-Kill state
