Former Harrington Man Charged With 16 Counts Of Rape

Posted: Updated:

HARRINGTON, Del. - Harrington Police say they have arrested an active duty member of the US Air force and charged him with 16 counts of rape.

24 year-old Jonathan Karasevich of Great Falls, Montana, was extradited to Delaware on Wednesday after an elaborate joint investigation.

According to police, in January they were contacted about a sexual assault complaint in Harrington on the 300 block of Weiner Avenue. That's when police say a joint investigation with the assistance of the Child Advocacy Center was conducted.

After an investigation, police say they determined Karasevich once lived in that same house on Weiner Avenue and, while staying at the residence, Police say he allegedly assaulted the then 6 year old victim on multiple occasions.

Police say during the course of the investigation detectives learned that Karasevich was recently stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana.

According to reports, after securing warrants for Karasevich, the Harrington Police Department contacted the Cascade County Sheriff's Office in Montana and they took him into custody.

On Wednesday, he was extradited back to Delaware and turned over to Harrington Police and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $167,000 cash bond.

Police say Karasevich is also charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, sexual solicitation of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
