BALTIMORE (AP) - A Baltimore jury continues deliberating in the trial of a man accused of killing a North Carolina teenager.
Jurors deliberated the fate of Michael Maurice Johnson for a few hours Monday before going home for the day. They're returning to court on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Johnson is accused in the 2010 slaying of 16-year-old Phylicia Barnes. The teenager from Monroe, N.C., was visiting relatives in Baltimore when she disappeared. Her body was found in the Susquehanna River months after she went missing.
Prosecutors called more than 30 witnesses during the trial. Defense lawyers called one. Johnson did not testify.
Defense lawyers told the jury in closing arguments that prosecutors failed to show a motive.
