WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Authorities say a suspect in the shooting of a Wilmington police officer is a convicted felon.
Twenty-one-year old Frederick Gray was arrested late Monday in the Sunday afternoon shooting of officer Justin Wilkers, who was shot in the face and was to undergo surgery Tuesday.
Gray is charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited. He was being held Tuesday on $300,000 bail in connection with Wilkers' shooting and $100,000 bail for violating probation on assault and firearms convictions in 2007.
Two other men, 20-year-old Jared Wiggins and 21-year-old Ronald Boyce, also were arrested after Sunday's shooting. Police say the three suspects were in a vehicle that fled after a traffic stop by Wilkers and his partner.
