Eastern Shore Restaurants, Locals Celebrate Super Bowl

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - The Eastern Shore is Super Bowl ready and while some may be watching the big game at home, others will be cheering on their favorite team at a Super Bowl party.

"We've got a big 60 inch TV and we'll be sitting up front," said Dale Brittingham.

Bud Horner says that he is "going to have some Chesapeake bay oysters and steamed shrimp."

Shakenna Jones, a senior at UMES says she will be rooting for the Ravens with fellow students.

"We have like a sports bar theme [called] 'Come to the Shore,' so we're gonna have pool tables, other games."

Restaurants, too, are ready to cash in on the crowds.

"We try to do some unique foods," said Neely James, chef and owner at Mother's Cantina in Ocean City. "We've owned the restaurant for five years now and every year we've done a halftime buffet profiling foods [from] each city."

Super Bowl Sunday scores big for local businesses, but Mother's Cantina puts so much effort on this special day to cater to the fans of both teams they admit the profit is similar to any other day.

This year, they are cooking crab cakes and polish sausages for Ravens fans.
For the 49ers, they called friends in San Francisco to find out what they'd like to see on the menu.

"[It] might sound strange to us, but ice cream sandwiches was the resounding topical food."
