Terry Cohen: "You've Got A Mayor Who's Gone Rogue" - WMDT 47 News - Delmarva's Choice

SALISBURY, Md. - The City Council is stopping payment to the acting fire chief.

We're told the temporary extension for acting chief Rick Hoppes ended on January 22nd. Council President Terry Cohen is asking Mayor Jim Ireton to "cease and desist immediately with the use of my signature on payroll disbursements."

"I think we need to discuss what needs to be done for the good of the city, but as I said before, you've got a mayor who's gone rogue and is not enforcing the law that he swore he would uphold."

Cohen says the employee handbook states the acting status term shall not exceed six months without the approval of council. An emergency meeting is scheduled for Monday.
