Catherine "Kitty Hill" Smack Lewis

SNOW HILL, Md. - Catherine "Kitty Hill" Smack Lewis, 87, of Snow Hill, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury. Born in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late John Lester Smack and Della Mae McCabe Smack.
In earlier years, Kitty worked as a bookkeeper, then she and her 2nd husband owned and operated the IGA Store in Snow Hill, and for the past 22 years, she worked as a secretary / bookkeeper for her son, Joe at Traditional Design Services in Berlin. She was a member of Bates United Methodist Church in Snow Hill and also attended Spence Baptist Church near Public Landing. She enjoyed her family and friends, going to the beach, her home and flowers.

She is survived by a daughter, Jobie H. Burke and her husband, James Riley of Snow Hill; two sons, Richard H. Outten and his wife, Ellen of Snow Hill and Joseph F. Hill and his wife, Anastasia of Berlin; 3 grandchildren, Lisa Outten Stant (James), Shawne Outten Clogg (John) and Bill Bounds (Sonya); 6 great grandchildren, Ashley Outten Biscoe Lewis, Alexandra Outten Harrison, Joshua Outten Clogg, Zachary Bounds, Ryan Bounds and Kirby Bounds; and two sisters, Myrtle Carroll of Snow Hill and Connie Beckwith of Salisbury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Outten, Joseph F. Hill and William T. Lewis; and a brother, Vernon L. Smack.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Ken Elligson will officiate. Contributions in her memory may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, PA, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
