National School Choice Week

WMDT 47 News - National School Choice Week is in full swing with 3,500 events kicking off all over the country Monday.

One American child drops out of school every 26 seconds, which is why experts can't stress enough how important education reform really is. While Maryland has a very strong public charter school sector, officials say some children still don't have access to good schools. But, there are options that can help combat that.

Andrew Campanella, President of National School Choice Week Says, "So other states have tried things like open enrollment policies for public schools, more magnet schools and emphasis on online learning which I personally think might be the wave of the future for all education, connecting kids whether they're in a classroom or at home with some of the best teachers around the world."

The big celebration kicks off in Phoenix, Arizona and will feature a cross country whistle-stop train tour ending in New York.
