MARYLAND - If you are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, and or have a mental disability, there's financial assistance available for you.
The Core Service Agencies of Worcester, Somerset and Wicomico Counties are helping those eligible, get birth certificates or state identification cards through a program called Homeless ID Project. These identification cards can give you access a number of services, entitlements and medical insurance.
The agencies can also help speed up disability social security claims through a program called SOAR. "They really do take a lead role in disability applications, collecting medical documentation and doing everything necessary to help expedite the process so that people aren't waiting years and years and years for determination and with hopes to get in," Services Coordinator at the Worcester County Core Service Agency Jessica Sexauer said.
