A Robbery Leads To Shooting In Wicomico County

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. – WMDT has just learned details of Tuesday's shooting in Wicomico County.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, they responded to Bailey's Taxi for a report of a robbery and shooting of a cab driver on Tuesday night around 10:25 PM.

Reports say the driver picked up three people and brought them to the area of Patrick and Keen Avenue. That's when police say the he was robbed with the suspects taking his iPad, cell phone, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say the three suspects fled from the cab and ran towards Patrick Ave with the cab driver pursuing them in his taxi.

Reports say an armed suspect fired multiple shots at the cab striking it twice with one shot pierced the driver's side door. That's when police say the driver received a grazing wound to his lower leg. "As he rounded the circle and was being observant, trying to see if he could see them, he drew fire. He didn't necessarily see them, but he drew fire from them. Two rounds entered his vehicle which caused a superficial wound to his leg," Sergeant David Owens from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators say the driver did not require treatment at PRMC.

The driver is a 38-year-old African American male who we're told has been a part of Bailey's Taxi Service for quite some time.

This case remains open and the investigation is being continued by the Wicomico Bureau of Investigations. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Wicomico Bureau of Investigations at 410-548-4898 or Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.
