28th MLK Celebration At Wicomico Youth & Civic Center

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Hundreds on Delmarva made their way out to the Wicomico Youth and Civics Center Monday night to celebrate the life and achievements of Reverend Martin Luther King Junior at the 28th annual Celebration banquet, sponsored by the Tri-County Organizations' Coalition.  WMDT's very own Alyana Gomez was the mistress of ceremonies, and UMES President, Dr. Juliette Bell was the event's guest speaker.  Bell said, "I've selected as a topic 'The Power Of A Dream" because I do believe that the vision that Dr. Martin Luther King had in his I have a Dream Speech has continued to trickle down as we move forward."

This year's dinner was also dedicated to the late Dr. DeWayne Whittington, who served on the event's planning committee in previous years.
