Dover Police Warn Of Rental Scam

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Looking to rent a home? Dover Police advise you to use caution while searching for rental homes or apartments online.

Their Criminal Investigation Unit has been looking into a reported scam on Craig's List after receiving several complaints from alleged victims. According to police, victims contact the listing, sign a contract, then pay the money up front. But they say those locations "for rent" are already legally occupied, and the scammers are then unreachable.
