O'Malley To Discuss Public Safety Priorities

Posted: Updated:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Gov. Martin O'Malley will be talking about his public safety priorities for this year's legislative session.

O'Malley is scheduled Friday to elaborate on his proposals for gun safety and violence prevention in Maryland.

The Democratic governor outlined some of his plans earlier this week during a summit on gun violence at Johns Hopkins University.

He said he will propose a ban on military-style assault weapons and push for stricter licensing requirements.

O'Malley also said his plan will address mental health and school safety.
