Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Police are investigating a home invasion that send a teenager to the hospital with a gunshot wound. Cambridge Police say that a little before 10:00 PM on Tuesday, they got a call about a home invasion on Douglas Street.

Their investigation showed that three African American males forced their way into the home, one had a handgun. Three people, a mother, her daughter, and a friend, were home at the time of the alleged invasion. Police say that the mother was trying to get the 14-year-old out an upstairs window, when the girl was shot in the back. After the shooting the three suspects apparently fled from the home.

The 14-year-old was taken to PRMC where she had surgery, and is listed in stable condition. Police tell WMDT that they believe that this is an isolated incident, and was not random, but the investigation remains on-going. The suspects were last seen wearing jeans, black hooded sweatshirts, and black garments covering their faces. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambridge Police at 410-228-3333.
