OCEAN CITY, Md. - Work has begun on that iconic pier in Ocean City that was nearly demolished by Superstorm Sandy.
Mayor Rick Meehan tells WMDT that Bayshore Development corporation got the green light on their permits. Charles "Buddy" Jenkins, owner of Jolly Roger Amusement Park is overseeing the reconstruction. Missing deck boards and railings are in the process of being replaced after the storm shortened the pier by nearly 100 feet. T
he plan is to restore the pier back to its full length of more than 400 feet. Meehan says it should be completed sometime between April and May.
