Salisbury Airport Wins International Award

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury Airport has undergone a lot of upgrades in the last several years, and now it has an international award to show for it.

The airport was presented with the IES/ALC Air Carrier Award for improvements on its runways and runway lighting systems.

The work has attracted new business, and allowed larger commercial aircrafts seen at larger airports to service the Eastern Shore.

"That class of aircraft can easily get in and out of the airport from pretty much any distance now," said John Longnaker, an airport consultant.

The award was presented by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the Aviation Lighting Committee. It is only given to carrier-sized airports.
