Man Awaiting Trial For 6 Ocean City Burglaries Arrested For Stealing A Car

OCEAN CITY, Md. - An Ocean City man, who is apparently already awaiting trial for six burglaries, has been arrested again. According to the Ocean City Police Department, around 5:30 AM on Saturday, they got a call about a stolen vehicle on Beachcomber Lane. When they arrived, they reportedly saw the vehicle, with the engine running, and someone sitting in the driver's seat.

Officers say that as the walked up to the car, the driver ran from the vehicle, and jumped into the bay. Police were able to pull 20-year-old Alexander Ellis, from the water, and place him under arrest. Police say that during their investigation, they found several items inside of the stolen vehicle, that did not belong to the victim. These items were reportedly taken from at least three other vehicles in the area.

After being treated at Atlantic General Hospital, Ellis was charged with a slew of offences, including, theft - $1,000 to under $10,000, theft scheme - $1,000 to under $10,000, theft/rogue and vagabond. He was also charged with multiple traffic offences, including attempt by driver to elude uniformed police by fleeing on foot, and taking vehicle without the owner's consent with intent to deprive owner. Ellis was held on $25,000 bond.

Ocean City Police had also arrested Ellis back on January 3rd, in connection to six residential burglaries. He was awaiting trial after being released on bond.
